The Wisconsin Jewish Tercentenary Committee has voted to continue as a permanent organization under the name, Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning. The Society will continue to foster the chair at the university, its work with the Wisconsin Jewish Archives and the research and history project about the Jews in the state of Wisconsin.
The group, along with the Milwaukee chapter of the American Jewish Committee, last year founded the chair of Hebrew studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The first accredited course in Hebrew will be offered this fall by the new department under the leadership of Professor Monsoor whose appointment has just been announced by the U of W Board of Regents.
