With the singing of “Havenu Shalom Aleichem” and a standing ovation, more than 1200 leaders of Chicago’s Jewish community greeted Premier Menachem Begin of Israel Wednesday at a luncheon at the Pick Congress Hotel sponsored by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago’s Israel Embergency Fund. Begin said that Israel “is stronger than ever before, “and that its enemies know now that they cannot overwhelm Israel by force. He reiterated Israel’s commitment for “real peace” in the Middle East.
