The Wolf Foundation announced that it has received its first major legacy –a bequest amounting to almost $250,000, or more than half the estate of the late Louise Meyer of New York City.

Meyer, who was born in Germany, was a longtime friend of the Wolf family whose head, the late Dr. Ricardo Wolf, established the Foundation in 1978 with a fund of $12 million for the annual presentation in Israel of $100,000 awards to laureates in various fields.

Of the 66 Wolf Award winners to date, five subsequently received Nobel Prizes. The 1983/84 awards will be presented by President Chaim Herzog at a ceremony in the Knesset on May 20.
