Rep. Lester Wolff (D.NY), chairman of the House International Relations Committee’s subcommittee on future foreign policy, said yesterday the United States should put the Third World on notice that American participation in the United Nations General Assembly will cease if Israel is ousted from the Assembly. Wolff’s remarks came as the non-aligned nations meeting in Lima, Peru was considering action they might take against Israel at the behest of the Arab-led bloc. He said he would fight to cut out the entire U.S. contribution to the UN on the floor of the House if any action is taken against Israel by the General Assembly or any of its affiliated groups such as UNESCO.
