Ten women’s groups of Jewish organizations throughout the city were honored with certificates for their efforts in the United Jewish Appeal campaign at the final rally of the season yesterday at the Hotel Commodore. The total sum raised by the women’s division since the drive’s inception, it was announced, was $32,745.50.
Principal speakers at the rally included Miss Pauline Baerwald, junior division chairman of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and Dr. Edwin Goldwasser, one of the three cochairmen of the New York drive. Miss Baerwald gave impressions of the trip she made recently to Germany while Dr. Goldwasser described the distribution of relief funds in that country.
Recipients of the awards were; the West End Synagogue, Central Synagogue, Temple Beth-El, Temple Rodeph Sholem, Temple Emanu-El; Union of Orthodox Congregations of America; Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue; Women’s Emergency Council; Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations, and the New York section of the National Council of Jewish Women.
Mrs. David E. Goldfarb presided at the meeting.
