More than $250,000 for the economic development of Israel was raised as the result of a luncheon today held by the Greater New York women’s division of State of Israel Bonds. The event marked the formal opening of the division’s fall campaign to raise $3,000,000 through Israel bonds in 1966. The event accorded tribute to six women volunteers in the New York metropolitan area for achieving outstanding records in the sale of Israel bonds in their respective areas so far this year. More than 500 attended the luncheon.
Principal speakers were Ambassador James Roosevelt, United States representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, India Edwards, former special consultant on youth employment to the United States Secretary of Labor; Mrs. Michael Comay, the wife of the permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations; and Bess Myerson, chairman of the Greater New York women’s division of State of Israel Bonds.
