Approximately $10,000 was realized by the women’s division of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities at its fifth annual luncheon yesterday at the Hotel St. George, Brooklyn. About 1,000 members of the division and their guests attended, including many prominent in the social, political, cultural and professional worlds.
The luncheon is one of the principal efforts of the Brooklyn Federation to mobilize women in its Spring campaign to raise $543,500.
Mrs. Harry Schlein, chairman of the luncheon, welcomed the guests. Mrs. Nathan L. Goldstein, president of the women’s division and associate chairman in Federation’s current campaign spoke about the purposes of the drive, and the critical condition facing the twenty-five affiliated agencies of Federation.
BROOKLYN CHARITY UNITS REPORT ON ACTIVITIES
Reports of activities will be the order of business at the meetings today and tomorrow by the various divisions of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities. The Federation is now engaged in a drive to raise $543,500 for the maintenance of its twenty-five affiliated agencies serving the poor, sick and orphaned children of the borough.
The educators’ division, under the chairmanship of Dr. Jacob Greenberg, and comprising prominent educational officials, will hear the first reports of the school representatives in their efforts to raise the quota of their respective schools at Friday’s session. Attorneys, accountants and dentists will meet today to report their activities preliminary to the first general dinner-meeting of all trade and professional groups composing the trade and membership council of the Federation.
