“Hadassah can and must swing the power of its tremendous influence in favor of Labor Zionism which embodies the Messianic ideal,” Rabbi Ira Eisenstein warned yesterday, speaking at a meeting at the Hotel Bolivar of the West End group of the Hadassah on “The Present Crisis in Judaism.”
The Zionist ideal, he maintained, “is being threatened today by ambitious and visionless Revisionists who have lost the Messianic spirit which always animates the builder of Zion. It was a vision of a new world order, once called the Messianic Age, now called the cooperative commonwealth, based upon social justice. That new social order outlaws capitalist greed, militarism and hysterical nationalism.”
Rabbi Eisenstein expressed his belief that, while Jewish women have done splendid health work in Palestine, it is “high time” that they “realize their enormous power for good in another direction.”
