The newly-created women’s units of the Council of Young Israel will attend the annual convention of that organization at Atlantic City on June 22, it was announced here yesterday. It had been erroneously announced that this convention would mark the first time that women were allowed to participate. The Council of Young Israel, however, states that women have always taken an equal part with men in the Young Israel Organization and council.
A statement from, the office of the council explained the misapprehension arose from the fact that “at the last mid-winter conference in Jersey City the Council of Young Israel decided for reasons of expediency to organize separate units of women at the different Young Israel organizations”
