The opening luncheon of the New York Women’s Campaign for the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of Jewish Philanthropies Joint Campaign yesterday raised close to $2.5 million. Seventy women attended the luncheon, the opening fund-raising event of the Women’s Campaign, which honored Mrs. Alan H. Kempner of Purchase, N.Y., a member of Federation’s Board of Trustees and honorary chairman of its overall Women’s Organization.
Mrs. Emanuel Gants of Harrison, N.Y., campaign chairman, said that “this outstanding demonstration of support for the 1976 campaign sets the standard for the maximum effort we’ll be making in the months to come. In these difficult times, Jewish women of New York have once again proved themselves to be a most potent force for Jewish survival.”
