A women’s campaign for South African Jewry’s United Communal Fund has been launched following a 10-day tour by Mrs. Zena Harman, a member of Israel’s Knessen and wife of Hebrew University President Avraham Harman. Mrs. Harman, who visited the major South African cities to help launch this campaign, stressed the interdependence of Israel and diaspora communities. She expressed gratification that her visit here represented Israeli assistance to an important diaspora community which had always stood solidly with and contributed generously to Israel. What was at stake, Mrs. Haman stated, was the strengthening of Jewish life and Jewish values wherever Jews resided.
