A resolution calling on Great Britain “to interpret more generously than heretofore the principles of economic absorptive capacity” in Palestine was adopted today at the conclusion of the three-day nineteenth annual convention of the Women’s League of the United Synagogue.
It urged the Mandatory Power particularly to cooperate with the Jewish Agency for Palestine in its efforts in behalf of German and Polish Jewish youth. Other resolutions were adopted for the furtherance of religious educational efforts and bearing on national issues of the day.
Members were called upon to exert “all possible pressure” for ratification of the Child Labor Amendment. Another resolution urged upon Congress neutrality legislation to keep the country “free from any possible entanglements in foreign conflicts under no circumstances will the armed forces of the United States be called upon to leave the territorial limits of the United States.”
Support and a special gift was pledged to the Jewish Theological Seminary in honor of ten years’ service to the league of Mrs. Samuel Spiegel, its president. The resolution called the Seminary “the center for the study and interpretation of our Torah to which we turn for spiritual guidance and leadership.
