GIVES ASYLUM FACTS

Miss E. Ferderber of the Child Placement Department of the Brooklyn Hebrew Orphan Asylum announces that the total increase in the number of boys and girls in board from 1929 to the present time equals 358. Records of a child’s interrelation and habits as observed through all the sources at the bureau’s disposal are greatly instrumental in the selection of the children at the asylum who are to remain at home for observation and training and those who may be placed with foster parents. About two-thirds of the children at the home have already been taken into foster homes. Many of the remaining third are waiting now until the best possible homes can be chosen for them, where they will be considered not merely as boarders but as members of the family to which they go. In return for a placement, the Asylum pays for the children’s upkeep, supplies their clothing, and takes care of medical and dental expenditures.

GALUTH PSYCHOLOGY EXPLAINED

In her weekly Friday afternoon broadcast over Station WLTH Dr. Trude Weiss Rosmarin, director of the School of the Jewish Woman, explained the Galuth psychology of the Jew not only in the era of medieval oppression but as it is evidenced in modern life. The psychology, which enumerates the faults of the Jewish character, she characterized as a lapsing into dishonesty through coercion, and the inevitable reaction to the pressure under which the race struggles for existence. She deplored particularly the present discrimination against Jews in the matter of employment, and urged against a wholesale desertion of Judaism by wage-earners.

The Judah Ladies Auxiliary and the Congregation Kneses Israel of Sea Gate, Brooklyn, celebrates the tenth anniversary of the sisterhood with a bazaar and carnival Saturday evening at the Temple Lawn, Nautilus and Sea Gate avenues, Brooklyn.
