The Thirty-seventh Anniversary Ball of the Home of the Daughters of Jacob will be held at the Waldorf Astoria tonight, Sunday, Mrs. Peter J. Schweitzer, president of the organization, announced.

An interesting feature of the evening will be an address by Governor Lehman transmitted through the medium of talking pictures. The program also includes entertainment by Harry Hershfield, Bill Robinson, Belle Baker, Arthur Tracy, George Jessel, Irene Bordoni and Lou Holtz.

Mrs. Max Wolper is chairman of the ball, assisted by Mrs. Lewis M. Franklin and Mrs. Moses F. Dworsky. Mr. Samuel Rosoff heads the Arrangements Committee.

TRIEMIAL CONVENTION IN 1935

Mrs. Joseph E. Friend, former president of the National Council of Jewish Women, has been named chairman of the Triennial Board in preparation for the Triennial Convention of the Council to be held in New Orleans in March, 1935. Mayor T. S. Wamsley of New Orleans telegraphed an official welcome to the board of directors, which is in session this week at the American Woman’s Association Clubhouse in New York.

The Junior Committee of the New York Section of the Council will hold a tea and bridge tomorrow afternoon at Sherry’s, the proceeds of which will go toward the support of the Play School at Council House in the Bronx. Miss Beatrice Liebowitz is president of this organization.

RADIUM GIFT

The new Radiology Institute in Jerusalem recently established by Hadassah has just received a gift of 100 milligrams of Belgian radium from Dr. Ira I. Kaplan, director of the cancer division of the Department Hospitals of New York City. Dr. Kaplan, who will sail to deliver the radium late this month, has started a radium fund for Palestine, through which he hopes to raise $20,000 for the purchase of additional quantities. His mother, Mrs. B. David Kaplan, has made the initial contribution of $5,000.

WOMEN LEADERS WIELD PEN

The April issue of the Jewish Forum will be dedicated to the Jewish woman and will contain articles on the work of their organizations by the heads of all the national women’s institutions in the country. Among the contributors are: Mrs. Maurice Steinfeld of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, Mrs. Hannah G. Solomon of the National Council of Jewish Women, Mrs. Herbert S. Goldstein of the Women’s Branch of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, Mrs. Gabriel Hamburger of Ivriah, Mrs. David de Sola Pool of Hadassah, Mrs. Dora Spiegel of the Women’s Branch of the United Synagogues of America, and Miss Celia B. Slohm of Junior Hadassah.
