The members of the Chicago Hadassah have had the very delightful and clever idea of being hostesses to their husbands at the Give and Get Dinner on April 25, which was a tremendous success. The idea is truly novel and should be imitated by other organization. Imagine treating your own husband as an honored guest; making yourself lovely for him, talking to him, entertaining him, really listening to what he has to say! The whole thing sounds almost too good to be true. We merely wonder whether the husbands so signally honored felt quite at home at the dinner or whether they did not wistfully wish that Hadassah would stage so unique an affair every day of the year.

REGARDING MRS. GOBOROFF

As a rule we dislike women who repeat themselves, unless, of course, the repetition is of the kind Mrs. Simon S. Soboroff has indulged in. Clever, energetic, and indefatigable, she has for the fourth consecutive time conducted the Tithe campaign of the Chicago Hadassah and has repeated the success one has come to expect of this excellent woman-leader. We can only applaud and trust that Mrs. Soboroff will continue her fine and inspiring work.

HADASSAH EXHIBITS AT FAIR

Hadassah is the only American group exhibiting at the Levant Fair, according to the announcement of Mrs. Robert Szold, acting national president of the organization. The display, which is in a section designated as the National Jewish Pavilion, describes the entire system of the Hadassah medical and public health work in Palestine by means of pictorial charts and photographs. Statistics concerning the twenty-two infant welfare clinics which accomodate more than 35,000 mothers and children are the most striking in the exhibit. At the Levant Fair last year Hadassah was cited for the best statistical display and was awarded a gold medal for public hygiene.

JEWISH JUNIORS PEACE MOVE

The National Council of Jewish Juniors is actively cooperating with the League of Nations Association in their petition campaign to attain 1,000,000 signatures on behalf of Peace. A Peace caravan team will be put into the field this Summer under the auspices of the American Friends Service Committee.

SISTERHOODS DISCUSS

The New York State Federation of Temple Sisterhoods held its fourth biennial convention last week at Temple Rodeph Sholom. Mrs. Albert J. May presided over the gathering, the theme of which was “What Constitutes a Modern Jewish Life?”, and Rabbis Jonah B. Wise, William F. Rosenblum and Solomon Goldman were among the guest speakers. Resolutions were passed to endorse unreservedly the United Jewish Appeal and to sponsor a movement for the organization of a national federation of young people to complement the work of the older group.

JUNIOR HADASSAH EVENTS

The Brooklyn and Long Island Councils of Junior Hadassah held a joint musicale and tea at the Savoy-Plaza. Rabbi Nathan N. Rosen of Temple Petach Tikvah, Brooklyn, was the speaker of the afternoon and entertainment was provided by Abner Silver, Libby Heisler, Kay Podell and Sylvia Silberman. Miss Silberman, who is fund-raising chairman of the Brooklyn Council, headed the arrangements committee for the affair.
