In view of the threatened closing of the Haifa refineries by the British management, due to the continuing lack of crude oil from Arab nations, the local Labor Council last night voted to send a delegation to Tel Aviv which would urge that the Israel Government operate the plants.
(The New York Times today reported from London that oil experts there estimated that foreign companies interested in the Iraq Petroleum Company and Consolidated Refineries in Haifa had so far lost $28,000,000 in income as a result of the inactivity of the refineries. British and American diplomats in London saw no early prospect of resuming delivery of crude oil to Haifa from Arab fields, the report said, adding that the inability of diplomats to break the Arab oil blockade of Israel has angered some oil men.)
