Works of Two Dead Yiddish Writers to Be Published in Russia

For the first time in a number of years, two works by Jewish writers will be published in Yiddish in the next few days in the Soviet Union, it was reported here today from Moscow by the Neue Presse, Yiddish Communist paper. The paper said that a volume by David Bergelson and a volume of poetry by Ascher Schwartzman are due to appear in the Soviet capital. Both authors are dead.

It was also reported that a number of works by Yiddish writers will appear in Russian translation during the coming week. Translations of two volumes of works by David Bergelson and one of poetry by Perez Markish are in preparation. Both authors were among the several hundred Jewish intellectuals liquidated in Russia under the Stalin regime.
