Left wing intellectuals have cabled the world conference of Communist parties in Moscow to press Soviet authorities to end their “anti-Semitic campaign under the label of anti-Zionism” and permit Russian Jews who wish to, to emigrate to Israel. The cable, endorsed by the Santiago Conference of Latin American Leftist Intellectuals, was sent to Moscow by the Chilean Committee for Soviet Jews. It was signed by the committee’s president, Carlos Vicuna Fuentes, a well-known Chilean writer and attorney. The appeal to the world Communist delegates also demanded that Jews be treated the same as other minorities under the Soviet constitution.
