The first world conference of Jewish youth opened here last night with 350 delegates from 43 countries in attendance. They represent 180 organizations with a total membership of over 250,000 and with a variety of religious and political shades. There are no delegates present from the USSR or the Soviet bloc countries.
President Itzhak Ben Zvi has greeted the parley, which is being held in the Wise Auditorium of the Hebrew University, and the Israel Government has issued a special commemorative postage stamp in its honor. Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the Jewish Agency, described the gathering as the first of its kind in Jewish history.
