A world conference on Jewish education will be convened in Jerusalem within the next year under the auspices of the Education and Culture Department of the Jewish Agency for Israel, it was disclosed here by Chaim Finkelstein, world head of the Jewish Agency’s Department of Education and Culture. Mr. Finkelstein, in the United States on his first official visit since his appointment as head of the department, made this disclosure at a press conference. The former Argentine educator, who settled in Israel two years ago, said the participants in the conference will be Jewish educators, writers, and intellectuals from throughout the world. “Improved and intensified Jewish educational programs,” Mr. Finkelstein said, “is the single most important aspect of our fight against Jewish assimilation and indifference.”
