With the approach of April 28, the dare set for elections to the American Jewish Congress, the issue of whether a World Jewish Congress is necessary is becoming more and more acute. The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle this week publishes a page one editorial saying:
The proposed World Jewish Congress is a menace to the Jews throughout the world and therefore the plan to elect delegates which will make up such a Congress should be immediately withdrawn by those who advocate it. The proponents of the Congress have started at the wrong end. Instead of asking American Jews to elect delegates on April 28th, they should have asked the American Jews, through their accredited organizations, whether or not they desire a Congress to be held. We are certain that if this question were passed upon by our coreligionists that the answer would be an emphatic “no.”
