The 11th World Congress of the International Theater Institute, the first held outside of Europe, opened here tonight with the participation of 130 delegates. The weeklong meeting will deal with modern production of classical plays.
Deputy Premier Abba Eban, Education Minister Zalman Aranne, E.R. De Low, representative of UNESCO and Rusanold Gilder, president of the Institute, addressed the opening session. Delegates included leading theater figures, producers, critics and directors. They included Andre Kaverter, a special delegate of the French Cultural Minister Andre Malfaux.
