After studying the new developments in Rumania, the executive committee of the World Jewish Congress closed a two-day session with the decision to continue its fight for Jewish rights in that nation since the situation was considered still grave. The committee decided to convoke an emergency session of the Congress Council next Summer at a place to be announced later. The Council comprises 150 representatives of Jews in 32 countries.
The World Union for Jewish Culture protested anti-Jewish measures against cultural institutions in Rumania, citing suspension of Jewish newspapers, prohibition of Jewish theatrical performances, confiscation of Jewish school buildings and prohibition of the Yiddish language in Bessarabia.
