The Interior Ministry began Sunday considering the first case of a defector from a Communist bloc country since Soviet forces invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968. The case involves Livio Yuruvan, an 18-year-old Rumanian athlete who defected from his team and has asked for political asylum in Israel. In the cases of Czech nationals who refused to return home after the Soviet invasion, Israel issued resident permits.
