Parliamentarians from 10 West European countries have come out in favor of Israeli Premier Menachem Begin’s peace plan. The 40 parliamentarians, who met last week within the framework of the “Europe-Israel Parliamentarian Friendship Group,” called on the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip and West Bank to accept Israel’s proposal for local autonomy. Former Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban, who along with Menachem Savidor of Likud represented Israel at the conference, said in a French radio interview that the conference participants “stood at Israel’s side” and that there is a bond of friendship between Israel and Western Europe.
