A world meeting of the ORT opened today here with high-ranking members of the French Government in attendance. Speakers included Senator Justin Godart, who served as chairman, Judge Leon Meiss and several Cabinet Ministers. Regular business sessions will begin tomorrow.
Jacob Blaustein, chairman of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee; George Backer, a vice-chairman of the American ORT; Lord Marley and Valentine Smith, representing the Inter-Governmental Committee on Refugees, also spoke. A telegram from UNRRA Director-General LaGuaudia, who is at Geneva, urged the organization to “keep it up–there is work to be done and a world to be built.”
