The World ORT Union executive approved a 1959 budget of $5,754,000 for its vocational training program among Jewish communities in a score of countries. The new budget is $700,000 more than last year.
Daniel Mayer, chairman of the executive, reported that in 1958 nearly 36,000 persons were served by ORT programs offered in 500 training units. He pointed out that the ORT network in Israel was the largest system of occupational training. M. Mayer also spoke of the organization’s work in Poland, Western Europe and the Moslem states.
