The world premiere of Prof. Martin Buber’s “Elijah” was given at the Little Theater of the Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart at Purchase, N. Y. The play was translated into English by Prof. Maurice Friedman, formerly philosophy professor at Sarah Lawrence College.
The play has 23 scenes and 66 roles and 25 actors. It tells the story of Elijah’s being summoned by God to save Israel from idolatry and worship of Baal. It is considered one of the last works of Prof. Buber.
