The “New York Post,” commenting on the renewed anti-Jewish drive in Germany, says:
Bavaria is indulging in new orgies of anti-Semitism. Dr. Springer, newly appointed Nazi propaganda chief in that district, received his political training in Nuremberg, where Julius Streicher holds sway. In his hatred for the Jew he excels his master. On April 30 he delivered himself of an address in which he charged the members of that race with responsibility for those who lost their lives in the Bavarian Soviet revolution.
“These Germans were killed,” he cried, “by order of world Jewry. No one should be astonished if we want to drive men of this race from Germany. …” On the following morning all Jewish shops in Nuremberg were placarded with stickers: “Jews are our misfortune, Perish the Jews!”
In some cases Nazis etched anti-Semitic slogans into large window panes of such stores with corrosive acid. When business men complained they were asked to prefer specific charges against the guilty parties. That ended the investigation….
