A three-day conference of the council of the World Federation of Sephardic Jews opened here today. The first session was a closed meeting of the praesidium which will draw up reports and resolutions for presentation to the later plenary sessions.
Presiding over the conference is Ascher Benroy of London. Israel is represented by Behor Shitreet, Minister of Police, and Eliahu Eliashar, Sephardic deputy in the Knesset. Vitalis Nehemias of New York represents the American section of the federation. Following the conclusion of the conference, Minister Shitreet will proceed to the United States where he will tour the principal cities in behalf of the Israel bond sales campaign.
