A proposal that the 17th World Zionist Congress set for February 5, 1931, be held in Montreal, which was made by H. Wolofsky, editor and publisher of the Jewish Daily Eagle, is viewed with favor by many local Zionists, and it is expected that such a request will be cabled to the Zionist Executive in London after the next meeting of the national council of the Canadian Zionist Organization.

Mr. Wolofsky gives the following reasons for holding the Congress in Montreal: first, American Zionists would be able to attend the Congress in great numbers and speak openly but with proper restraint on the British government’s Palestine policy; secondly, visas for European and Palestinian delegates would be more readily obtained, because Canada would be glad to have the international gathering. Mr. Wolofsky also stresses the sentimental value of holding the Congress in a British dominion.
