The World Zionist Organization Executive approved a $55 million budget Tuesday for the fiscal year 1980-81. It is the equivalent to this year’s budget. The WZO budget will compensate for inflation and the devaluation of the Pound by cutting manpower by 15 percent and a 20 percent cut in expenditures on overseas emissaries, and other efficiency measures.
However, the new budget allows for a $1,2 million rise in the budgets of the diaspora Education Department and the Youth and Hecholutz Department. This will allow for some 10,000 overseas youths to continue to participate in special summer and winter projects in Israel. The Jewish Agency budget is expected to be approved at the end of the month when the Board of Governors meets in Jerusalem.
