The World Zionist Organization has budgeted IL 850 million for strengthening the existing settlements across the Green Line, the pre-1967 border of Israel. The budget does not include any allocations for new settlements since they first require government approval.
The budget, which was set by the WZO’s settlement department, allocates 10 percent for Golan Heights settlements, 25 percent for the Jordan Valley, 25 percent for the West Bank and 15 percent for settlements in Yamit and the Gaza Strip. The proposed Israeli-Egyptian peace agreement would not require removal of the settlements in the Yamit area for at least three years. The rest of the budget had been authorized earlier.
