Deputy Premier Yigael Yadin was reportedly resting this afternoon at the Hadassah University Hospital after suffering “a mild heart attack.” Yadin became ill late yesterday afternoon and was hospitalized at the Hodassah Mount Scopus Hospital.
Prof. Shlomo Rogel, in charge of treating Yadin, said today that Yadin’s condition was “very satisfactory.” Rogel said Yadin had felt some “discomfort” in the chest, but that presently he was feeling fine. Rogel declined to go into further details. No visitors were allowed in “to give him the maximum chance to rest,” according to Rogel.
He would not say how long Yadin would stay in the hospital, but he said the Deputy Premier was not in any danger. Yadin, 62, had not shown any signs of strain in recent days. His work load has been as heavy as ever until the heart attack, an official at Yadin’s office said.
