Yale University will send no delegate to the bicentenary celebration of Goettingen University in Germany, according to an announcement by Secretary Carl Lohman. Mr. Lohman said Yale would send a brief message “in recognition of the great tradition of Goettingen and of the associations which have existed between the two universities.”
The announcement followed publication of an editorial in the Yale Daily News which declared rejection of the invitation by Yale “would certainly establish a beneficial example to those American universities that are still debating their course, and for Yale it would do much to reaffirm our belief in free thought.”
