The first modern concert ever given at Eylath, Israel city on the Gulf of Akaba, was performed by Yasha Heifetz, noted American violinist. It was an open-air concert attended by more than 2,000 persons who came from various sections of the Negev, the southern desert section of the Jewish state.
Mr. Heifetz was greatly impressed with the comfortable quarters assigued him at Government House in Eylath and with the mess hall for the Israel soldiers stationed in that remote section of the country, at the mouth of the Rod Sua.
