Yasser Arafat welcomed Israel’s approval of the “road map” peace plan, but said Israel’s reservations raised questions. The Palestinian Authority president was speaking to reporters in Ramallah following talks with the visiting French foreign minister, Dominique de Villepin. De Villepin called on both sides to fully implement the plan. He said the Palestinians must fight against terrorism “unequivocally,” and that Israel must “make the necessary gestures” to ease conditions for the Palestinians.
