Yasser Arafat would win 55 percent of the vote if the Palestinians held presidential elections today, according to a Palestinian poll. Released by Bir Zeit University in the West Bank, the poll also finds that 54 percent of Palestinians would like to hold elections for Palestinian Authority president and the Palestinian legislative council, while 70 percent support holding elections for local councils.
