The publication of an anti-Jewish organ under the title “The Yellow Magazine” was announced today in Paris by the Institute for Jewish Affairs. The name of the publication which will be the official mouthpiece of the Institute is taken to indicate that the reports abroad of contemplated “ghetto measures” for Jews in occupied France, including yellow badges, have some basis in fact.
A suggestion that “all Jewish property should be confiscated in order to cover the destruction brought about by the war” is made in Union Francais, a French newspaper published in Lyons, while French news agencies today reported that further anti-Jewish measures are to be expected in France. Simultaneously it was reported here today that in Algeria all Jews have been instructed to leave before December 15 all the professions barred to them under the French anti-Jewish laws. Only a small percentage of Jews will be allowed to remain in the medical and legal professions.
(District Attorney Dewey, addressing the annual dinner of the Lawyers’ Division of the Federation of Jewish Charities, in New York, stated that the decree of the Vichy government last Saturday extending its anti-Jewish laws to all French possessions in the Western Hemisphere, is a violation of the Monroe Doctrine.)
