The acquisition of more than 500 important documents and manuscripts of Jewish interest by Yeshiva University was announced here today by Dr. Samuel Belkin, president.
The collection was uncovered in Europe by Dr. Isaac Lewin, Professor of Jewish History at the Yeshiva’s Graduate School. Its purchase was made possible by a contribution from the family of the late Aaron Etra. The manuscripts, some of which are 1,200 years old, deal with the history of Jewish communities in Poland, Germany and other Central European countries.
