Yeshiva University awarded 508 degrees and diplomas in course and seven honorary degrees at its 34th annual commencement exercises today. Two hundred and ninety three undergraduate and 215 advanced degrees were awarded to the graduates of ten of the university’s schools and divisions.
The seven honorary degrees were awarded to: Ambassador Nathan Barnes, permanent representative to the United Nations from Liberia; Justice Bernard Botein, presiding justice of the Appellate Division, New York State Supreme Court; Dr. Mary I. Bunting, president of Radcliffe College on leave to serve as a member of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission; Francis Keppel, U.S. Commissioner of Education; Rabbi Mordecai Kirshblum, member of the executive of the Jewish Agency-American Section; Dr. Willis E. Lamb, Jr., Henry Ford II professor of physics at Yale University; and Dr. Solomon Zaitlin, of Dropsie College.
