A Bronx, N.Y. resident who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees and a doctorate from Yeshiva University has been appointed by Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller as Commissioner of the State Division of Human Rights. Jack M. Sable, director for the past year-and-a-half of the State Office for Community Affairs, succeeds Robert J. Mangum in the $36,125-a-year post. His confirmation is now subject to Senate approval. Sable, 44, was director of the State Office of Economic Opportunities, the state’s anti-poverty agency, before his appointment on Aug. 28, 1969, to the OCA which serves as the state’s center for development of programs designed to solve urban and poverty problems. He is also a former member of the State Drug Addiction Council. A native of Kingston, N. Y., Sable served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict and is currently a Lt. Col. in the Air Force Reserve.
