For the first time in the western hemisphere, courses in the Yiddish language will be offered by a liberal arts college as a regular part of its curriculum, it was announced today by Professor Sol Liptzin, chairman of the City College German department. The courses are elementary and advanced Yiddish, and will be given next fall at City College by the German Department.
The courses will be especially adapted for the needs of social science students, including these who want to go into the field of social work in this country as well as students who intend going to Europe to work with Jewish displaced persons.
