Twenty-six Jews from Vilna have protested to the International Postal Union that Soviet authorities were intercepting mail addressed to them from Israel. They demanded an investigation of this alleged violation of international postal agreements. Israel’s Transport and Communications Minister Shimon Peres received a copy of the letter today. Another copy was sent to the Lithuanian Minister of Posts. The signers said that each one of them had definite proof that mail from Israel was intercepted and offered to turn over their evidence to any committee the IPU might set up to investigate the charges.
