Jews and a considerable number of persons of German extraction united today in a militant crusade against “any boycott or attempted boycott of any American manufacturer, merchant or employee of whatever race, creed or color, through the city of Yonkers.”
A resolution embodying the anti-boycott plank and condemning organizations “influenced by any foreign government whose constitution or code is predicated upon religious or racial intolerance,” has the formal approval of delegations from both the Central Committee of German American organizations of Yonkers, headed by Peter Dauenheimer, and the Jewish Federation of Yonkers, of which Morris M. Einson is president.
Others signing the resolution include Leon Eisen, Maurice S. Degenstein, Edward Lauterbach, Abraham H. Elkind and Dr. Israel Linder, for the Jewish Federation, and Deputy City Comptroller Gustav Klein Jr., Edward F. Strobel, Carl Christ and Christian Schlobohm, for the German Americans.
The first anniversary of the death of Cantor Joseph Rosenblatt, who died in Jerusalem last year at 51, was observed at Ohab Zedek Synagogue.
In the same synagogue, on June 7, 1912, Cantor Rosenblatt officiated for the first time upon his arrival here.
