Sephardic Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef emphatically denied Thursday that he had any plans to resign because of his differences with Ashkenazik Chief Rabbi Shlomo Goren. He made his dental in response to questions by newsmen as both Chief Rabbis came to Lod Airport to bid farewell to President Zalman Shazar, who left for a visit to the United States to attend the funeral service in Washington for the late President Harry S Truman. However, the religious leaders did not speak to each other.

Rabbi Goren was heard reminding Shazar to remember to present the Chief Rabbinate judgment in the Langer case to the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who had criticized Rabbi Goren’s clearance of the Langer children of the taint of bastardy. Shazar had with him a copy of the ruling in the Langer case, which was issued by the government printer as an official document.
