Yosef Tekoah, president of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev and former Ambassador to the Soviet Union and the United Nations, was elected president of the Soviet immigrants association in Israel by some 500 delegates attending the association’s convention. He told the conclave that he will continue the struggle to ensure aliya from the Soviet Union and to help overcome absorption difficulties encountered in Israel by immigrants from the USSR.
