Whenever your young men in Palestine defend themselves against attack, he went on, the aggressors start an outcry that the Jews are provocateurs, but we know that this is not true.
Ex-Minister Justin Godart, the President of the Palestine-France Committee, in introducing M. Painleve to the meeting, recalled the important part which France had played in the recognition of Jewish rights in Palestine. Baron Alfred de Gunzburg was among those present at the reception. The reception was preceded by a dinner, at which the guests included M. Painleve, M. Godart, and Mr. Jacob Landau, Managing Director of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
