“you Must Be Weak in Arithmetic,” Says Berlin Conductor to Professor Einstein

The author of the theory of relativity is not necessarily skillful in everyday arithmetic, according to the opinion of one of the street-car conductors of Berlin.

He found that out because of the following incident: Prof. Einstein, upon paying his fare in one of the Berlin streetcars, received, what he thought, was incorrect change. He asked the conductor to correct his mistake, but in figuring the matter out, it was discovered that the mistake was Prof. Einstein’s, and that the conductor had given him the right change. The conductor then triumphantly stated to Einstein: “You must be weak in arithmetic.”
