Colonel Shlomo Goren, chief chap-lain of the Israel Army, will be one of the principal guest speakers at the four day midwinter conference of the National Council of Young Israel, which opens here tomorrow at the Pioneer Country Club to discuss a wide range of Jewish problems.
Other speakers will be Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress; Rabbi David Lipshitz, member of the presidium of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis; Morton London, commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States; and Rabbi David B. Hill, president of the group.
Colonel Goren was received at New York City Hall yesterday by Mayor Robert F. Wagner. The visitor extended to the Mayor greetings from Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion. The Mayor told the chief chaplain that the people of New York were in sympathy with Israel’s desire to obtain peaceful relations with other countries in the Middle East.
